Between a Cherokee medicine woman grandmother, a Texas rancher grandfather, who taught physics, and a fundamentalist upbringing layered over fractured family dynamics, Phil learned early that real understanding requires holding multiple realities simultaneously without collapsing them into false simplicity. This multi-faceted reality became the foundation for his life's work: creating systems that value context rather than reducing complexity to linear fragments. Where others saw contradictions to resolve, Phil saw patterns to map — a fundamentally different approach to both human understanding and technology design.


Phil created a framework — patented for its novelty long before the industry had a name for contextual reasoning — that prompts individuals, partners, corporate leaders, teams, and communities to see, think, and act within wholistic mental models.
This approach converts complex challenges into visual conversation maps that supplement working memory's limits — preserving context while accelerating understanding and decision-making in situations that would otherwise overwhelm linear thinking.
Over twenty-five years, Phil and his partner Pam tested and deployed the framework across more than fifty applications. Coaches, counselors, consultants, and chaplains brought it into their practices, their graduate training, their accredited continuing education. Agency- and foundation-supported projects followed — HRSA, the U.S. Army, Robert Wood Johnson, Novo, Colorado Health, Well Being Trust — and Phil's documentation and case summaries grew with every project. The record now spans 45,000 people, from high schoolers to CEOs, who mapped their own situations. All of it before AI integration.
